GETTING STARTED WITH PLYNIC
Connect your library. Press play.
From your first media source to comfortable subtitles. Find the steps that fit the way you watch.
Download Plynic first ↓Connect a NAS / SMB share
- Make sure your phone, computer or TV can reach your NAS. Enable SMB file sharing on the NAS and give your account read access to the media folder.
- Add an SMB source from the Plynic home screen. Enter the NAS address and share details, using your own NAS credentials when required.
- Browse the shared folder and open a video. If the connection fails, check local network permission, the NAS address, share name and account permissions.
Use a trusted secure connection for remote access. Do not expose SMB ports directly to the public internet just to play videos.
Connect Emby / Jellyfin
- Have your server address and server account ready. First check that the server is reachable in a browser on the same device.
- Add the matching media source in Plynic, enter the server address and sign in.
- Open your library and choose a video. Playback progress and favorites can sync with your own server for use in other clients.
If your server uses a reverse proxy or custom port, enter its complete working address. Libraries, permissions and accounts are managed by your server.
Local videos and subtitles
- Use the local file entry in the app to select your own video, granting file access if the operating system requests it.
- Open subtitle options during playback and select a track. Adjust the size, position and timing as needed.
- For timing problems, check the original file and selected tracks first, then make small offset adjustments. Different files may need different settings.
Playback depends on codecs, device capabilities and the media source. Try a known working file to narrow down a problem.
Custom danmaku and IPTV
- Danmaku: add a custom server in Settings and enable subtitle avoidance if needed. Availability and matching depend on the service you configure.
- IPTV: import an M3U playlist you have permission to use. Program guides depend on information supplied by your source.
- If a channel fails, first check its source and your network. Plynic does not provide channel subscriptions, movies or third-party accounts.
Only access content you own or are authorized to use. Never post playlists containing passwords or tokens in public feedback.
Half-folded iPhone Duo playback
- Version 1.0.21 has been submitted for App Store review. The new layouts will be available after approval and installation of the update.
- Open a video and half-fold the device to keep the picture above and playback controls below.
- Unfold or close the device to change the layout. Home and library pages also arrange content around the fold.
Website images preview version 1.0.21. Check the App Store for the version currently available.
Get useful help, faster
- Note your device model, operating system and Plynic versions, and whether the source is local, SMB, Emby, Jellyfin or IPTV.
- Describe the page you started from, the actions you took, what you expected and what actually happened.
- Contact the developer through the support page. Hide server addresses, account details and private media titles in screenshots. Never send passwords or access tokens.
For connection issues, first confirm the same device can reach the server. This helps separate network and permission problems from playback problems.
